Roberto A. Rivera is the owner of Rivera & Associates and his firm has served clients locally, nationwide and internationally. His client list includes law firms, banks, private attorneys, corporations, insurance companies, retail establishments, government agencies and private parties, such as the California Apartment Association, the City and County of San Francisco, United Parcel Service (UPS) and United States Postal Services.
Previously his firm served as the Independent Investigator for the City of San José Ethics (Formerly Elections) Commission from 2005 through 2009. Currently, he uniquely specializes in conducting Residency Investigations for Public School Districts since 2007. He is fully Bilingual and Fluent in Spanish and capable of utilizing his language abilities in Investigation and Risk Consulting.
Mr. Rivera has been a member of the California Association of Licensed Investigators (CALI) since 1998, and previously served as District Governor, District Governor, Director at Large and Vice President of Investigative Services on the Board of Directors for the statewide association. In 2002, he earned the Certified Professional Investigator (CPI) specialization credentials. He also holds certification as a Certified Criminal Defense Investigator (CCDI) through the the Defense Investigator Training Academy CDIA and Alan Hancock College since 2002.
He is also an active member of the World Association of Detectives (WAD), the California Defense Investigators Association (CDIA), the National Council of Security and Investigative Services (NCISS), and a member of the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce & Visitor-Convention Bureau.
Mr. Rivera has served as a Court Appointed Investigator in various California Counties and as a Federal Court-Appointed Investigator in the Ninth Federal District Court in California. He has provided Pro-Bono Investigative work for the Northern California Innocence Project at Santa Clara University Law School since 2001.
Born in San Jose, California, Mr. Rivera is a graduate of Saint Francis High School and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, with a concentration in Law Enforcement and a Minor in Sociology, from California State University. He has also completed subsequent graduate work in Criminology at San Jose State University.
Roberto is knowledgeable and trained in Legal Procedures, Laws and Legally Acceptable Techniques. Additionally, he has attended training through Wicklander-Zulawski Inc. & Associates and the Insurance Educational Association.
Roberto is also a volunteer for his children’s schools, and Immediate Past President of the Kiwanis Club Pueblo de San Jose, which fundraisers for schools, children and mentoring programs, as well as, performs volunteer service to the community.
